Series

Johnny is a tri‑vocational pastor who spends his days working in the field, training tradespeople, and shepherding a small church with a big heart. His sermons carry the dust of the jobsite, the questions of the classroom, and the hope of the Gospel.

We believe formation takes time. We believe Scripture is alive. We believe people grow best when they’re given space to breathe, ask questions, and walk together.

Our series are not performances—they’re invitations. Invitations to see Jesus more clearly. To understand Scripture more deeply. To become more whole, more grounded, and more alive in Christ.

Our Teaching Series

A slow walk. A steady gaze. A growing people.

At our church, we don’t rush through Scripture. We walk through it—section by section, story by story—letting God’s Word shape us over time. Our teaching series are designed to help ordinary people encounter Jesus with honesty, curiosity, and wonder.

Some series are long journeys through a book of the Bible. Others are shorter, focused explorations of themes that meet us right where we live. All of them are crafted with care, humility, and boots‑on‑the‑ground practicality.

Section by Section

Gospel of Mark Sunday AM

We’re taking a tour through Mark’s Gospel—moving slowly, listening deeply, and paying attention to the Jesus who moves, heals, confronts, and surprises. This is a journey through Mark as Mark wrote it: fast‑paced, raw, and full of revelation. Each week, we explore a new section, discovering how the King still calls us to follow Him today.

Adult Sunday School

Tracing the Story Behind the Story

Old Testament Roots for the Gospel of Mark

Before each Sunday sermon, our Adult Sunday School class takes a slow, attentive look at the Old Testament background behind the passage we’ll hear preached. Mark’s Gospel is fast‑moving and tightly written, but beneath every scene runs the deep river of Israel’s Scriptures. We’re learning to listen for that river.

This isn’t a lecture. It’s a guided exploration—an invitation to see how the prophets, psalms, festivals, and stories of God’s people come alive in the ministry of Jesus.

Each week we ask simple but transformative questions:

  • Where have we seen this before?

  • What echoes from Israel’s story are ringing in this moment?

  • How does the Old Testament deepen what Mark is showing us?

  • What does this prepare us to hear in the sermon?

We move slowly, section by section, letting Scripture interpret Scripture. Along the way, we discover that Mark isn’t just telling us what Jesus did—he’s showing us how Jesus fulfills, reframes, and completes the story God has been telling from the beginning.

It’s a gentle, wonder‑filled way of reading the Bible. It helps us enter worship with open eyes and open hearts. And it’s become one of the most meaningful rhythms in our church’s life.

Sunday Evenings: The Bible at 30,000 Feet

A relaxed, big‑picture tour through the story of Scripture

Sunday evenings at TCBC are simple, unhurried, and surprisingly rich. We gather with Bibles open and expectations low‑pressure as we take a “30,000‑foot view” of the entire biblical story. Each week, we explore one book of the Bible, tracing its major themes and noticing how it fits into the larger narrative God has been telling from Genesis to Revelation.

This isn’t a deep‑dive commentary class. It’s a guided flyover—an invitation to see the contours, connections, and recurring patterns that run through the whole Biblical Library:

  • God’s persistent presence

  • His covenant faithfulness

  • The rise and fall of kingdoms

  • The hope of a coming Redeemer

  • The threads that lead straight to Jesus

We laugh, we ask questions, we make connections we’ve never seen before. And little by little, the Bible becomes less intimidating and more like a familiar landscape.

It’s relaxed. It’s relational. It’s Scripture—seen from above, understood from the heart.

If you’ve ever wanted to understand the Bible as one unified story, Sunday evenings are a great place to start.

The Bible: From God's Breath To Your Hands

How did we get the Bible? Who wrote it? Who copied it? Why do we have translations? And how can ordinary people read it with confidence?

This six‑week class is a relaxed, accessible tour through the story behind Scripture—how God used languages, communities, scribes, churches, and everyday believers to preserve His Word across centuries.

Each week explores a different part of the Bible’s journey:

  • Week 1 — A Monument to Translation How the Old Testament shifted through languages, how the New Testament was shaped through collaboration, and how the Spirit has preserved Scripture through ordinary hands. Theme: Scripture is resilient.

  • Week 2 — How the New Testament Was Written Dictation, co‑authors, amanuenses, and the house‑church reading culture that shaped the earliest Christian writings. Theme: Scripture is communal.

  • Week 3 — How the New Testament Was Copied Scribes, margins, corrections, and the careful transmission practices that carried the text forward. Theme: Scripture is cared for.

  • Week 4 — How the New Testament Was Recognized Canon formation, community discernment, apostolic voice, and the Spirit’s guidance. Theme: Scripture is recognized, not manufactured.

  • Week 5 — Why We Have Translations Language change, audience, purpose, and faithfulness across time. Theme: Scripture is for the people. Free Books will be available on this night written by our Pastor that explores 68 different Bible Translations.

  • Week 6 — How to Read the Bible with Confidence Tools, posture, curiosity, and Spirit‑dependence. Theme: Scripture is for you.

This class is not academic or intimidating. It’s a gentle, boots‑on‑the‑ground look at how God has faithfully carried His Word through history—and how you can read it with clarity, freedom, and joy.
